Helping Grandma Manhart remain at home, where she enjoyed life past age 100, wasn't always easy for her family. But it was always important.Home Instead Senior Care® began by serving a handful of families in Omaha, Nebraska in 1994. Since those early years, our network has grown to over 1,000 franchises that provide in-home senior care from Topeka to Tokyo. And even though we lead the world in home care services, we retain our traditional Midwestern values. We always operate from the heart. It guides us as we provide personalized care, build relationships, and enhance the lives of seniors and their families right here in Racine, Kenosha and Walworth Counties in WI.

“ Our Home Instead caregiver, Sandy, was great with our father. She did a terrific job of making him comfortable during the day and making sure he got his meals and took his insulin and medications. Sandy was that extra set of eyes and ears that we needed with our dad when we could not be there with him. She became a very important part of our family and our dad loved having her at his place during the week; in fact, he always looked forward to the days when Sandy would be there with him. We don’t know what we would’ve done without her.”

“Living several miles away from my father, it was certainly a relief to know that my sisters and I had a terrific caregiver from Home Instead Senior Care to watch over him. She interacted with him like she was a member of the family and always made him feel special when she was at his home. She was able to fill the gap when us girls were unable to be with dad. Our Home Instead caregiver enhanced my dad’s life and gave me (and my sisters) peace of mind that he was getting great care.”

Just wanted to pass along to you and Victor and Audrey some more kudos for Tracy. In the last month or so, she has had TWO significant medical "saves" for our parents...
1) A few weeks back, she noted to Shannon the hospice nurse, that Virginia kept shaking her legs when lying down and was uncharacteristically grabbing Tracy's arm when she was near her. Tracy opined to Shannon that maybe something was medically wrong like a urinary tract infection. Shannon, said she wouldn't have even thought anything was wrong with Virginia during her routine visit, but because of Tracy's concerns, she took a catheter urine sample and stated that Virginia did indeed have a severe infection. Shannon said, Virginia was probably in a lot of pain, and the infection could have ultimately gone septic if not caught in time. She fully credited Tracy for noting the changes in Virginia's behavior and calling them to her attention with the correct concern.
2) This past Wednesday, Tracy noted to me her concern that Wayne's blood pressure has been seriously high for the past two weeks. (She is very dedicated in taking it twice or more a day.) I called the doctor, discovered that he had actually increased Wayne's blood pressure medication on 3 December, and he asked me to ensure that proper administration of the meds had been taking place, before taking any further action. Long story short, I discovered that the doctor's assistant had faxed the prescription to the wrong pharmacy, no one was aware of this, and thus the meds never made it to Wayne. If it weren't for Tracy's noted concern and recorded blood pressure readings, I may not have discovered this error before an emergency happened to Wayne. (I have also stressed to Visiting Physicians that they need to make caregivers and myself aware of any medical issues/changes so that nothing again falls thru' the cracks in the future.)
As always, thank you for providing our family with ALL of the awesome caregivers taking care of our parents. They ALL do a wonderful job, and when outstanding things like the above take place we'll always let you know!
Merry Christmas and Happy New year!
