Painting captures a present moment. It is a present moment with a particular quality of depth- such that it can take months or even lifetimes to unfold. Such is any present moment- pregnant with all possibilities.
In addition to Paintings, Prints, and Drawings for sale, Painting lessons are available on an individual basis (groups by arrangement) for ages 14 and up. It is between the ages of 14 and 16 that the World is beginning to open. Art is of that opening. I place 50 years of practice at your service- in service to that opening.
Mr. Scheer began his formal extracurricular instruction as a Painter at the age of 9. At age 13 he came under the Mentorship of Wassilly Somers and served as apprentice for the next 13 years, the working relationship concluding upon Wassily Somers' death.
In pursuit of questions to do with Creativity and Consciousness Mr. Scheer, following the threads brought to light under his brush, attended Schools of an explicitly Spiritual orientation. First, The Claymont School for Harmoniuos Development near Charlestown W.Va. founded by the philosopher and mathematician John G. Bennett- a long time student of George Gurdjieff and subsequently the Beshara School at Chisholme House in the Scottish Borders. a place dedicated to the underlying Unity of all Spiritual and Philosophical forms- in the proposition of the Absolute Unity of Being, full stop.
After trials and tribulations and years of Life experience he has come to the point where the fruit of this life demands to be shared. Painting is his touchstone so it is Painting that he now offers in service- both in mature works of Art and by offering instruction to some new young face as life opens to them- as once it did for him.
The most important thing about Boyd Scheer is that he has the soul of a true artist, that is, he sees beyond the outer form of things to the essential theophanic vision, which then he sets down in the unique idiom that is the place of manifestation we call the art of Boyd Scheer. (Christopher Ryan, Partner at Damascus Drum Cafe and Books, Hawick, Scotland)
I first met Boyd 25 years ago when we were working together in Scotland. Recently, I have been reading his regular reports with interest and admiration. I commend both his intelligent articles and his attempt to share ideas with others. (Graham Falvey, Teacher at Reliable English School)
I worked with Boyd at Claymont in West Virginia. At that time, we participated in a workshop with the late Edith Wallace, a well-known Jungian Psychoananlyst, Astrologer, and Artist. I'll never forget Edith's remark about Boyd's artwork at the time. She compared it to Mark Rothko. (Angelika Fey, Health Program Manager)
