For the past 44 years, God has blessed us as a faith community. Born out of the rich, historic Restoration Movement which bore the Churches of Christ, and built by the loyal faith and generosity of three different generations, Westlake has stood as a bastion of the mercy and grace of God on Indy’s westside. Our congregation has consistently attracted the weak, the broken, the weary, the outcast, to have a place of healing and restoration. We have represented the good of our “restoration roots” as we have accepted all people with the love and grace of Jesus Christ. We have sought to demonstrate compassion and seize opportunities to build relationships with our community and with one another in smaller settings.
But as each year passes us by, there are some things that never change. There is still brokenness, division, human pride and the grasping for control. The human condition shows that he/she is at war with self, with God, with others and creation, despite the presence of a building on 612 N. High School Rd. As the luxuries of a comfortable space slowly deteriorate, so goes the deterioration of many souls around us. Yet, despite the presence of a physical structure along the interstate, there are more and more lives that lose their spiritual and emotional structure: lives are busy, families are fragmented and “church” seems optional. Westlake does many good things, but Jesus, our Savior, is calling us from the “good” to the “great” ... to a “greater” future with a “greater” impact, to “greater” horizons we have not yet dreamed.
One thing is certain about this “greater” future. It will not be won by doing what we’ve always done. God has revealed a new vision that requires we have faith to “turn the page”, leave what we’ve known, and, like Abraham of old, be willing to “GO”...
Our future will be realized by...
