Visual Expressions is a Family owned and operated business focusing on bringing art to the Greater Southwest Dallas. Whether it is by framing and preserving artwork, to having the gallery that represents some of our local artist & nationally known artist, to our art school that starts at the age of 5 and up that caters to every person’s creative side.
It all started with an idea to bring art to Cedar Hill, Tx. Robin and Bill Ingle have lived here since 1984 and realized that art was missing from their city. Bill says “Being married to an artist and enjoying all types of art made us aware of what was seriously lacking in our community.” They bought a piece of property to build Visual Expressions Gallery on and also added space for other types of unique Mom & Pop businesses, the little center is known as The Ranch at Cedar Hill.It was their desire to bring art of all types to Cedar Hill. They consulted, repaired, located, framed and did anything concerning art. One question that they really couldn't help with was “Do you teach?” When the time was right they built Phase II of the Ranch. The motivation to expand was driven by their desire to create a learning center to truly bring art education to their city. With that desire, Visual Expressions Creative Art School was created. The school is for all ages. There are six classrooms for teaching all levels of drawing, painting, encaustics, mosaics, fused glass, ceramics, pottery, photography and mix media, etc. Our classes are for anyone age 5 and up. We have after school programs and kids camps during the summer. This exposure to art is very well received by parents and the kids love the time spent creating. It is really rewarding to watch children become so engrossed in creating art. Adults are the same. Our youngest student has been a mature 4 year old and the oldest is a very young 90. The thing they have in common is the enjoyment they feel exploring and creating art.Cedar Hill is south of Dallas. Until recently all of the growth has been to the north. Our area has not had the good fortune to experience the need for art that comes with growth. Art is absolutely necessary for quality of life. It is proven beyond all doubt that art education has a strong positive impact on our children shown in improved performance in reading, math, motivation in school and workforce preparation. With budget cuts at public schools many art programs have been eliminated making the art education programs of our school important to our community and economic development. Starting art appreciation at a young age is vital. After so many years, we are still truly dedicated to bringing art to our city and surrounding south Dallas.
