ro•sham•bo baby is owned and operated by San Diego family scott, julia and their baby girls, avery (4) and chloe (1). we started our little company after realizing that nobody was making high quality, stylish baby sunglasses while at a baseball game with a friend’s four month old who was staring up at the bright sun with no protection. scott put his adult sunglasses on him and lightning struck: Little People Deserve Big People Shades. that means making them in Italy instead of China. that means making them safe, durable, flexible, and chewable for little mouths. and that means making them just as stylish as designer adult shades.
two years later, we had the world’s best baby sunglasses ready for your little one and ours! scott didn't want stop there though, he wanted to wear matching unbreakable pink shades with avery, so we made kids and adult sizes so the whole family can match!
our name is a reference to the nostalgic game we all grew up playing (otherwise know as “rock, paper, scissor,” but “rock paper scissor baby” doesn’t have quite the same ring to it…). it also pays tribute to our autism support mission: special education and autism teachers have told us that playing ro•sham•bo can be a valuable teaching tool when kids need a quiet, calming, and personal interaction with a teacher. we have autism in our family, so this has been and always will be a pillar of our business.
we launched in june 2013 with a crowdfunding campaign to test our market and build up needed capital to fund more inventory and build this website. the result was overwhelming and the customer support and glowing feedback we received further fueled our ambition to make this dream a reality.
Love these! My 7 month old has a really small head like his mom. He's in the 1 percentile (it doesnt look abnormal or anything lol) and these seem to fit him well compared to the other glasses that we have tried. The arms are kind of bendy and would work with a multitude of different head sizes. We first saw them on a 6 month old in the 75th percentile. -LCooney
These are definitely better than your average baby shades. My daughter is 9 months old and the glasses we had wouldn't stay on her face and I tried finding something with a strap but those were all kind of goofy looking to me, and I had seen the Roshambo shades but kept passing by them because of their price. Finally, I just had to check them out and ended up getting them. For starters, they're way better looking than a lot of baby glasses, which is fun, but they also stay on better too. They're not perfect, but they do a good job. My daughter is on the small side and these will eventually slide down while walking but they stay on for a good amount of time, I'm not constantly holding them up. And she has room to grow into them. I'm hoping by the time summer rolls around in northern WI, these will fit great and she'll be the cutest kid on the block -M. McCool
We love these shades for my son but, they looked a little small on him and he is 2. We ended up buying the next size up because, they are very durable. I'm going to save these ones for our next baby. -K-Web
