Ballet and Pilates by Karie offers classes for people of all ages and abilities. By providing world-class instruction in a positive and fun atmosphere, our classes inspire confidence while shaping and toning your entire body in record time. Exercises help you tone and move your body precisely with newfound grace, strength, and balance. Pilates and Barre classes emphasize balancing strength with flexibility for injury prevention and more efficient movement. Adult classes specialize in mindful movement tailored to your body making new neuro-muscular connections, you can also expect a decrease in back pain or other general pains.. Children’s Ballet has a structured syllabus appropriate for the age and development of each dancer. Offering adult and teen classes in Barre, Pilates, & Ballet, and Children’s Ballet for ages 3-8 years old.
The Studio Instructor
Instructor Karie is a former dancer with years of experience. She has choreographed for and performed in The Nutcracker, various other ballets, dance performances, dance conventions and competitions. Karie attended The University of Akron as a dance major where she completed upper level ballet, modern and pointe technique classes and attended many master classes in Ohio, Utah, California, & Texas. As a dance major she also studied yoga, Pilates, dance history, rhythmic analysis, and ballroom to name a few. Karie is certified in Pilates, Barre, and also has a 200+hr yoga certification. Karie moved to Brookings last year with her husband and three children.
Karie teaches my 5 year old and 8 year old daughters ballet and they LOVE her! She does an amazing job teaching them in a fun way that makes them want to come back each week! If you are looking for a place to teach your children classic ballet, then bring them to Karie! The focus is on ballet and only ballet!
My knee I just had surgery on is doing amazing. And I am absolutely in love with Pilates, I'm completely addicted. I have gotten so much stronger in my core and my back, well everywhere. I feel so much better afterwards. My back doesn't hurt any more. I've been to 7 sessions and I can sit straight up now, I can do things I physically could not do before. My knee is stronger I am not kidding I feel like a different person. A lady gave me a compliment yesterday, she couldn't believe how much stronger I had gotten and the muscle definition in my legs. Seeing a 55 yr old lady doing this just pushes me to keep going.
